The AIGA Convention Poster was crafted for an AIGA design challenge, where I took inspiration from the bold and recognizable layout style of TIME magazine covers. The design process involved detailed photo recoloring and manipulation in Photoshop, where I transformed the original image to establish a strong, high-contrast focal point that draws the viewer’s eye immediately. Adobe InDesign was then used to create a balanced and dynamic layout, with careful attention to typography, alignment, and spacing to echo the sophistication of editorial design.
One of the primary creative challenges was integrating the convention center’s address without disrupting the flow or aesthetic of the overall design. I experimented with several typographic and spatial arrangements to ensure that the address would be visible and accessible, while also blending harmoniously with the visual elements. This solution allowed the poster to convey essential information clearly while maintaining a cohesive, professional look that represents the AIGA brand and appeals to a design-savvy audience. The result is a poster that is both visually striking and functional, capturing the spirit of the convention while meeting the challenge’s requirements.
